A new discovery
I know that the (oh so) few readers I have out there in computerland are shocked and amazed at my multiple postings within one week. Don't get used to it! :-)
I just wanted to write a quick post to share a new find that I am in love with: Eva Zeisel pottery. A couple months ago I discovered her work after watching a PBS special (or similar) one lazy weekend morning. This very same weekend, I also discovered how to use eBay for the very first time. Let me just say, this could have been a deadly combination! But, thanks to my champagne tastes which do not nicely match my Dollar Store pocketbook, I am yet to purchase any of her pieces. Which reminds me, I really need to get on the stick and paint the free antique-ish buffet I recently acquired, which is currently gathering dust and spiders in my garage.

Eva Zeisel is an amazing lady. She's quite up in years these days, but she is still working and producing beautiful pottery. What I especially love about her work is how modern her designs are for the time period in which most were produced. I love how her work is timeless. I love the whimsy she captures in a lot of her pieces. Who knew that salt and pepper shakers could be so FUN?! But most of all, I love her fluid designs and soft edges, and how gorgeous she could make something as simple as a platter or a gravy boat. I'd love to start collecting some of her work and plan to as the "means" become available! I don't think I've written about any of my artsy penchants before, but it's another of my favorite hobbies & thought I'd share. Here's some examples of her work, so you can easily see what I mean!
