BUNK. BUNK I say!!!!

Alright. I am miffed. Miffed in a big way.So yesterday, my boss goes strolling by my cubicle like she does a thousand times a day. She stops short to announce in her chipperest of voices, "Guess what? Your new boss starts February 13th."
That.... is.... grrrrrreaaaaat. Fabulous, even. I'm thankful that I took my self-control pill yesterday morning.
If you might recall, sometime in late November or early December I approached my boss with my interest in taking over the Coordinator role for our department. I wasn't going to at first, but then I thought, what the heck. I need more challenge and variety. I am BORED. So, I talked with her and expressed my interest, but said I wasn't sure what the policies were with a new person transitioning to another role or being promoted, blabbity blah. I truly think my boss is a great lady, but first of all, it took her three weeks (and relentless bugging on my part) to even get the job description. Then, about two weeks after that I received a forwarded email from my boss where she had asked someone from personnel about new hires/promotions. The email from the personnel muckymuck went like this: "While we have no formal written policy which expressly states that new hires cannot be considered for promotions within a department, it has been our practice to wait until the six month new hire probationary period is complete." Now, if it was a POLICY, fine. I totally respect that. But there's no *&^@#%$# policy!!! Additionally, I discovered that the person who has now been hired to supervise me and my other colleagues in our department does NOT have an advanced degree. I'm angry that I wasn't even invited to have a (more formal) conversation with my boss, even after I made it abundantly clear that I was interested. It was also a bit of a slap in the face to have it proclaimed in the fashion it was. AND, as an extra bonus... my "six month probationary period" would have long passed by the time Miss New Boss starts on February 13th. See?? BUNK!!
So. Whatever. I'm ticked. I'll get over it.
